I am originally a native of New York City, having lived in
Midtown Manhattan. I spent ten years in the United States
Air Force. During my tour of duty, I was stationed in the
states of Oregon and Washington. From Washington I
went to Japan, then New Mexico and finally in
California at Vandenberg AFB.
My wife, Dorothy, and I got married in April 1961. Upon my
discharge, we moved to Alabama. I went to work at the Post
Office as a Letter Carrier. I am now retired. My hobbies are
raising house plants and working with my computer. I spend
quite a bit of time on it. I've made lots of good friends with
people on the Internet.
I also enjoy cooking to give my wife a break in the kitchen.
I suffer from COPD, and am on oxygen 24 hours a day,
seven days a week. It makes if difficult to do too many things, so
I really appreciate my computer. I am also a Type 2 Diabetic.
I was diagnosed with a Basal Cell Carcinoma (Cancer) on my left
cheek in early July. I was scheduled for surgery a week later.
They didn't get all of it, so I was scheduled again for two
weeks later. They still didn't get it all. I was told to wait for
four weeks to come back again for a third round of surgical removal.
That was done on Sept.11th, 2003, and was a success.
I am now cancer free, and I intend to accompany Dorothy
in the Survivors Walk in the 2004 ACS "Relay For Life"
I am a Master Mason, affiliated with Florence Lodge# 14,
F. & A. M. I received my degree work in New York City
at Pythagoras Lodge # 86. I became a dual member by
affiliating with Florence Lodge # 14. Several years later,
I dropped my membership with Pythagoras Lodge # 86
on account of the fact that it was merging with another
Lodge and would no longer be my original "Home Lodge".
Dorothy worked in sportswear for years and retired from
Fruit Of The Loom. Previously to that, she was a Nursing
Assistant at a local hospital. She also did Private Duty in the
hospital and in patients homes. She likes to read and sew.
She likes all types of music.
Dorothy was diagnosed with Breast Cancer on November 1st, 2001.
She had a mastectomy on November 27th. Her Vasport was
inserted on January 2nd, 2002, and she began her chemotherapy
the same day. She had 8 rounds of chemo, and was told on
September 12th, 2002 that she is now cancer free.
Our family pet, "Poldy" was born on November 4th, 1990.
We got him on December 8th, 1990. The day we picked him up,
he was six weeks and six days old. He is a miniature long-hair
dachshund. He is very intelligent, but also very stubborn. His
AKC registered name is "Prince Leopold of Angora Heights".
