Mamie Eisenhower's Sugar Cookies

This is a recipe that my Mom collected way back in the
1950's. Thought I would pass it along.

Ingredients:

1-1/2 cups flour

1/2 tsp. Salt

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 cup butter (1 stick)

1 cup sugar

2 egg yolks

1 tsp. Vanilla

1 Tbsp. Cream (or milk)

Preparation:

Mix flour, baking powder and salt; set aside.

Cream Butter

Add sugar slowly and beat until fluffy

Stir in well beaten egg yolks and vanilla

Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with cream.

Chill for at least 1 hour or overnight

Roll and cut in desired shapes

Sprinkle with colored sugar before baking

Bake at 375 degrees of 10 to 12 minutes.
