Old Fashioned Hard Rock Candy

In time for the Holidays, yes, they are almost here too.
I am very proud of this recipe as it won me First and Second Place at the Indiana State Fair.
Ingredients:
3 3/4 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups light corn syrup
1 cup water
2 drams Lorann Gournet Flavoring (any flavor you choose)
1/4 tsp. food liquid food coloring
Preparation:
Mix first three ingredients in a large saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
Boil. without stirring, until temperature reaches 310 degrees or until drops of syrup form hard,
brittle threads in cold water. Remove from heat. After boiling has ceased, stir in flavoring and coloring.
Pour onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Cool and break into pieces. Sprinkle powdered sugar on pieces and mix well.
Store in an airtight container (It helps to add powdered sugar to the container, this helps keep it from sticking together).
Notes: This recipe is also great to make suckers with. You will need the sucker molds. It’s also great to make Cough Drops.
