A RESOLUTION OF METER DEPOSITS
Be it resolved, by the Town Board of Mt. Summit, hereby sets the procedure for processing meter deposits.
1. Meter deposits shall be made by the customer upon requesting water service.
2. This deposit is to be placed into the meter fund account.
3. This deposit is to be kept in the meter fund until such person moves or discontinues service. At that time the meter deposit shall either be refunded, if no water balance is owed, or applied to their account if a balance is due and owing. Any remaining balance after being applied to the account shall be refunded to the customer. If no forwarding address is presented to the office, the meter fund remaining balance shall be left in the meter deposit fund account for a period of 5 years, if it is not claimed the deposit shall be transferred to the operating fund. A reasonable attempt must be made to return the meter deposit.
4. The meter deposit rate from this day passed shall be $ 120.00 (One Hundred and Twenty Dollars) for all renters of properties. The meter deposit shall be $ 80.00 (Eighty Dollars) to customers owning/buying their home. Any person purchasing their home must provide proof of such purchase.
5. Board members reserve the right to increase the meter deposit (or require and additional deposit) if a customer is consistently late with their payment. This additional (or second deposit) should equal a three month average billing.
This resolution is hereby adopted by the Mt. Summit Water Utility.
