Cutting Your Water Bill

                  1. Purchasing a commode made after 1992 uses approximately 1gallon of water to flush

while the older models use approximately 14 gallons.

                   2. Top loading washers use more water than the front loading washers. Sometimes the

electric company gives you a reimbursement for purchasing a more energy efficient

                        model.

                     3. While brushing your teeth don't let the water run while brushing, that is just

money down the drain. Brush, then turn on the water to rinse.

                     4. Water softeners are a big culprit of using water needlessly.

Always have them maintained. Be sure to set it to recycle only as needed.

Some people have theirs set way too often. Many customers have come in with

unusually high water bills for no apparent reason. Eventually they found that the

                           water softener was sticking.

                         5. Pay attention to your commode. It may be leaking and you are not aware of it.

Make sure it shuts off after filling up and that it doesn't start filling again in a

few minutes, if it does, you have a leak. This can be very costly.

                        6. When showing, turn the water off while lathering up. This saves on water usage.
