They Want Proof??

As I watch the news I hear that the Taliban wants proof. It seems to me the proof has always been there, not for a day or two, not even for a year, but for many of years. I would be totally ashamed to live in Afghanistan, knowing that we would harbor such people that could do so much harm, to even their own people. As most of us watch, even their own are fleeing the country as they are in fear of what is evident to happen.

Let's take a look at bin Laden's actions.

1992- According to Federal charges, bin Laden stated that Al Qaeda should put aside its differences with Shiite Muslim terrorist organizations, including Iran and its affiliated terrorist group Hezbollah, to cooperate against the perceived common enemy, the United States and its allies; the US forces stationed on the Saudi peninsula, including both Saudi Arabia and Yemen, should be attacked; and the US forces stationed in the Horn of Africa, including Somalia, should be attacked.

1993-Sudan is placed on the State Department's list of countries that sponsor terrorist activities. According to US government charges, bin Laden's followers try to obtain components of nuclear weapons and begin to work with Sudan's NIF to develop chemical arms.

February 26, 1993-First World Trade Center bombing takes place.

October 3 and 4, 1993-Eighteen US troops are killed in an urban attack in Mogadishu, Somalia. A federal indictment charges that bin Laden and his adherents helped train and arm the men who killed the US troops.

January 1994-According to US intelligence analysts, bin Laden was financing at least three terrorist training camps in North Sudan, where rebels from a half-dozen nations received training.

April 9, 1994-The Saudi government revokes bin Laden's citizenship and moves to freeze his assets in Saudi Arabia because of his support for Muslin fundamentalist movements.

February/March 1995-Ramzi Yousef, mastermind of the World Trade Center bombing, is captured in Pakistan and extradited to the United States. A search of his former residences leads investigators to believe he is financially linked to bin Laden. Also, he had stayed at a bin Laden financed guest house in Pakistan.

June 1995-Unsuccessful assassination attempt on the life of the President of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak, in Addis Ababa. US intelligence sources believe bin Laden was somehow linked.

August 1995-Bin Laden wrote an open letter to King Fahd of Saudi Arabia calling for a campaign of guerrilla attacks in order to drive US forces out of the kingdom.

November 13, 1995-Five Americans and two Indians are killed in the truck bombing of a US-operated Saudi National Guard training center in Riyadh. Bin Laden denies involvement but praises the attack.

May 31, 1996-The Sudan expels bin Laden because of international pressure by the United States and Saudi Arabia. Bin Laden then moves back to Afghanistan.

June 25, 1996-A large truck bomb devastates the US military residence in Dhahran, killing 19 servicemen. US investigators believe bin Laden was somehow involved.

August 23, 1996-Bin Laden signed and issued a Declaration of Jihad outlining his organization's goals: drive US forces from the Arabian Peninsula, overthrow the Government of Saudi Arabia, liberate Muslim holy sites, and support Islamic revolutionary groups around the world.  He declares that Saudis have the right to strike at US troops in the Persian Gulf.

November, 1996-Bin Laden threatens to wage an Islamic holy war against the United States and its allies if Washington does not remove its troops from the Gulf region.

February 1998-Bin Laden issues joint declaration with the Islamic Group, Al Jihad, the Jihad Movement in Bangladesh and the "Jamatt ul Ulema e Pakistan" under the banner of the "World Islamic Front," which stated the Muslims should kill Americans including civilians - anywhere in the world.

June 8, 1998-The grand jury investigation of bin Laden, initiated in 1996, issues a sealed indictment, charging bin Laden with "conspiracy to attack defense utilities of the United States." Prosecutors charge that bin Laden heads a terrorist organization call al Qauda, the base, and was a major financier of Islamic terrorists around the world.

August 6, 1998-The Egyptian Jihad group sent the United States a warning: they would soon deliver a message to Americans "which we hope they read with care, because we will write it, with God's help, in a language they will understand."

August 7, 1998-Two simultaneous explosions occur at the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. The bomb in Kenya kills 213 people (including 12 US nationals), and injure, more than 4,500. The bomb in Tanzania kills 11 and injures 85.

January 16, 1999-The US Attorney's office files its most complete indictment to date of Osama bin Laden and 11 other suspected members of his terrorist organization. The grand jury charges the men with conspiring to kill American nationals.

July 22, 2000-18 people said to be smuggling cigarettes out of North Carolina to raise money for the terrorist group Hezbollah in Lebanon were arrested by federal authorities.

January 2, 2001-In a heavily guarded Manhattan courtroom, a trial began for four men facing conspiracy charges that could bring the death penalty for two of them for allegedly taking part in the bombings of two US embassies in East Africa on August 7, 1998 that left 234 people dead, including 12 Americans. The trail took place where six defendants were convicted in the February 26, 1993, first World Trade Center bombing and ten defendants were convicted in a failed plot to blow up New York City landmarks.

January 20, 2001-US federal prosecutors say that an alleged Algerian terrorist accused of assembling a powerful bomb in Vancouver, British Columbia, and trying to smuggle it into the United States may have been plotting to blow up the Los Angeles International Airport. Court documents filed in US district court in Seattle claim RCMP officers searching the Montreal apartment of Ahmed Ressam following his arrest found a map of southern California with three airports circled in pen. The other circled airports on the map were at Long Beach and Ontario County. Ressam's arrest set off an international terrorism investigation that uncovered what prosecutors allege was a plot by a Montreal-based Islamic militant cell to "punish America" on the eve of the new Millennium. The terrorist cell was said to be associated with the "Afghan Alumni," veterans of the war in Afghanistan who turned their attention to fostering an international Islamic movement, headed by Usama bin Laden and using violence to fight Americans and Jews.

June 15, 2001-According to a CNN report, Federal agents arrested four men in connection with a scheme to smuggle US Stinger missiles and other high-tech weapons to private buyers in Pakistan. Allegedly included in the plot were plans by the accused to by and export Stinger and TOW anti-tank missiles, machine guns, night vision goggles, and other equipment to Pakistan.

July 9, 2001-The offices of the Emergency Response & Research Institute and its subsidiary, Emergency Net News, received at lest six phone calls threatening to kill staff members. ERRI's Clark Staten, the recipient of three of the calls said, "We must have touched a nerve with some of the "bad guys" in our recent reporting...it seems when ever we report on developments concerning Osama bin Laden or other related radical organizations that the death threats begin anew."

July 10, 2001-Convicted African embassy bomber, Khalfan Khamis Mohamed, was given a life sentence (without possibility of parole), not the death penalty, because jurors seemed to believe that a death sentence would have made him "a martyr".

July 13, 2001 -Millennium Bombing Defendant Convicted of Five Charges, including Conspiracy to engage in terrorist acts New York City. He was convicted.

September 11, 2001-As you all know, the attack on New York, the Pentagon, and the foiled attack on the White House and/or Air Force One.

To sum it up, many countries have had attacks by these terrorist, and many of them have been caught, went to trial, and convicted. Most of them have been sent to prison where we still support them through tax money. I do believe that Timothy McVeigh was put to death for such an act. I hear some saying that they believe this should be solved through peace. (for those of you that believe that, read all the above again.)  You need proof?? (read above again). The deaths that these murderers have done now amount into the thousands and they have gotten by with it. Ole Bin Laden believes that he will become a martyr.....my opinion....he should only be put in mortar!
