Making a Simple Bordered Background

This is what we are making.

1.Set your foreground to white and your background to black.
2.Flood fill your transparent image with white.

3.Choose an image for your side border. I have used a red rose with a white
background. I have placed the rose image and psp mask in a zip file for you.

4.Go up to “layers” and add “new raster layer”.
5.Open your rose image. Go up to “layers” scroll down to “load/save mask”. Then
to “save mask to disk”. Then click on “load”. It will look like this.

Then go to “layers”, scroll down to “merge”, then click on “merge group”.
6.Go up to “image and click on “mirror”. Now go up to “edit”, “copy”. Then
“paste” it into your white background. Slide it over to the left side of your background.

7.Go up to your eraser tool and select the large square eraser. Set the size at 119. Now use your eraser tool and click around the edge of your rose to help blend it
into your white background.

The go to “layers” and down to “merge”, then
“merge visible”. TADA!! You are done….

8.Now, if you really want to get fancy. You can trim it out with something gold or
even black. Black would really make it pop. To make a black bar, it is simple.
Open a 250 x250 transparent window. Go to your “selection tool”, set it at
rectangle, and draw a narrow line.

Now flood fill it with black. DESELECT.

The next step is to add a shadow. Go up to “effects”, then to “3D effects” “drop
shadow”. Use these settings; offset vertical -2, horizontal 7, attributes opacity 58
and blurr 18.81. Color“black”.

9.Copy and paste this into your background. It will look like this.

You can also add 2 black bars.

You can use all kinds of images such as animals, birds, florals, people,etc.... Let your
imagination run wild!
