Here is a simple tutorial for installing and using

Paint Shop Pro masks.

To install your PSP masks.

1.  If it is in zip form, unzip your mask into PSP's mask folder. To do this, go to Programs, Jasc Software Inc,  PSP ( which ever version you are using ), and then Masks folder.

2.  If you have made your own mask, just simply save it to your mask folder in PSP.

Most formats will work, such as BMP., Jpeg and Gif's.

Ok, on to the next step. You want to know how to use your PSP masks?

Ok, here we go..... This tutorial is written for versions 8, 9 and 10X.

1.  Open your version of PSP

2.  We'll start with a transparent window of 400X400 pixels ( I always use a transparent window, unless it specifies not to).

3. Flood fill it with any color of your choice (remember, we are only test driving here, hehehe).

4.  Go up to "Layers", then to "New Raster Layer", when the window pops up, just

click "ok". Don't worry about anything inside that window.

5.  Then flood fill your 400X400 again with your second choice of color (contrasting color). This is so you will be able to see your mask when you are done.

6.  Notice to your right that your layer's are shown.

7.  Go up to " Layers", scroll down to "load/Save masks", then to " Load Mask From Disk".

8.  Select your choice of masks, then click on "load". (Yepper's, you found your masks, hehe)

9.  After you have applied your mask  go to "Layers" again, scroll

down to "Merge" and then to "Merge Visable".

10.  Then  go to "Layers" again, scroll

down to "Merge" and then to "Merge Group". This is so your image will become

one layer.

There you have it, your first mask!

You can experiment by making your own masks from other images.

Your imagination is endless folks!
